## Architecture decisions

1. **Presentation-only charts** — All shaping logic in `models/chartPresentation.js`; chart JSX only renders pre-mapped props.

2. **Reuse fetched data** — `revenueSummary` passed to both `RevenueSummaryCard` and `RevenueTrendChart`; no second `getRevenueSummary()` call.

3. **Lazy Recharts** — Four `React.lazy` imports code-split Recharts into the dashboard async chunk; storefront routes unaffected.

4. **Shared chart frame** — `DashboardChartFrame` mirrors widget empty/error/skeleton patterns from 4.2.

5. **Accessibility first** — `role="img"`, focusable chart region, sr-only tables, pie labels with numeric values, progressbar roles on table bars.

6. **Design system colors** — Brand gold + existing status/payment semantic colors from `chartTheme.js`.

7. **No service changes** — Stable 4.3 API contract preserved for future consumers.

## Known limitations

1. **Revenue trend is period totals, not a time series** — Bars show Today / Week / Month / All Time snapshots, not daily points. A `getRevenueTimeSeries()` API would enable line charts later.

2. **ResponsiveContainer in jsdom** — Chart component tests mock Recharts; visual regression not automated.

3. **Pie label density** — Many zero slices are hidden by empty state; small slices may overlap labels on narrow viewports.

4. **Local calendar periods** — Revenue trend periods match 4.3 local calendar rules (not fixed timezone).

5. **Client-side scale** — Same MVP aggregation limits as 4.3.
