# Phase 0 — Final Report (Foundation & Audit Closure)

Status: **Phase 0 complete** — all deliverables produced; all critical findings either resolved or documented with clear remediation.

## Executive Summary

Phase 0 set out to make the Babees Place repository **healthy, consistent, documented, and ready for Phase 1** — without implementing features or redesigning the architecture.

What was accomplished:
- **Repository health restored.** The root `.gitignore` (previously an empty *directory*) is now a real ignore file; a `frontend/.gitignore` was added; `node_modules`/`dist`/env/logs/editor/OS files are ignored.
- **Secrets hygiene fixed.** `frontend/.env` (which held only the **public anon key** — verified `"role":"anon"`, no service-role key) was untracked and ignored; `frontend/.env.example` was added.
- **Corrupted filename repaired.** `docs/technical/04_Authentication.md` (which contained a literal newline in its name) was fixed.
- **Documentation completed & synchronized.** All 9 previously empty docs were populated with accurate, evidence-based content; README/ENGINEERING/ARCHITECTURE/CODING_STANDARDS/AI_COLLABORATION/CHANGELOG were corrected to match reality; a current structure diagram was produced.
- **Full baseline audit set produced** (repository, documentation, dependency, frontend, Supabase, environment, security, production readiness, technical debt).

What was intentionally **not** changed (per Phase 0 rules — no feature work, no code redesign, no fabricated migrations): the critical `profiles` RLS flaw, the client-side order-integrity issue, the missing database migrations, the layout bug, and dead code. These are **documented** with concrete remediation and scheduled for Phase 1.

The repository is now a trustworthy foundation: reproducible tooling hygiene, accurate documentation, and a clear, evidence-based backlog.

## Remaining Risks
1. **Privilege escalation (Critical)** — any user can self-promote to admin via `profiles` update. Until fixed, the admin boundary is not real.
2. **Order/payment integrity (High)** — client can fabricate totals/prices via the fallback path.
3. **Irreproducible database (High)** — `products` + 5 tables and their RLS are not in version control; `supabase db reset` would break the app.
4. **No automated safety net (High)** — no tests, no CI, broken lint.
5. **Operational blindness (High)** — no monitoring/logging/backups; payments are a stub.

## Outstanding Work (not done in Phase 0, by design)
- All application-code and database fixes (RLS, order flow, indexes, layout, dead-code removal, `getPublicUrl`, placeholder asset).
- `supabase db pull` baseline migration (requires project access; must not be fabricated).
- ESLint config + CI + test framework.
- Diagrams, onboarding, deployment pipeline, data-model ADRs.
- Optional: anon-key rotation + history scrub; relocate `.agents/` tooling; remove empty `docs/` dirs.

## Recommendations for Phase 1 (Architecture Stabilization)
1. Clear the two **Critical** items first (they are launch blockers and cheap to fix).
2. Make the database reproducible (`supabase db pull`) and prove RLS everywhere — this unblocks trustworthy security review.
3. Establish the safety net (ESLint config + CI + tests) before larger refactors.
4. Fix the shared layout and remove dead code to stabilize the frontend surface.
5. Only then proceed to feature work (payments, reviews, notifications) per `docs/NEXT_STEPS.md`.

**Phase 0 is complete.** Every deliverable exists, hygiene/documentation issues are resolved, and every unresolved engineering risk is documented with an evidence-based remediation path.
